Yet another traditional church lost forever.

Since it’s Sunday, let me introduce you to a special monastery: Bogdana Monastery in Rădăuți.

Since it’s Sunday, I’d like to introduce you to a church that is probably less well-known to many of my readers: the Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist in Botoșani.

The temple was inaugurated on August 18, 1883, on Emperor Franz Joseph I’s birthday, with the first service celebrated by the city’s new chief rabbi, Yitzhak Kunstadt.

The Great Synagogue in Siret was built in 1840 in the town center. It is one of the oldest Jewish places of worship in northern Moldova. A Hasidic school also operated within this synagogue.

If you’re passing through Sibiu and want to learn more about the history of the Saxon community in Transylvania, you should definitely stop by the Museum of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession, located in the courtyard of St. John’s Church (“Johanniskirche”).
